Days of Dread Trilogy

The Kidron Valley by Caryl McAdoo

The Kidron Valley

Young Adult Fiction

Book Three

For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle.

As evil heightens all over the world, Jackson, his best friend Al, and his girlfriend Aria learn to live in their new world, fighting off those who would kill, steal, and destroy those in Red River County. The story is one of survival under the guidance of Uncle Roy and his brother and God’s Words of Wisdom. No one discounts the Great Pyrenees Boggs’ part either. Though Jackson still holds fast to his agnostic beliefs, God keeps making it harder for him to deny His existence and the sacrifice of His Son. Will he finally believe?

I loved how this installment addresses some of the younger members In the story, and how they react to things and people around them. Moreover, I appreciate how God and the foretold return of Jesus Christ fill the pages of these books. Even the youngest members contribute to the community. So if you know a Young Adult or enjoy reading Young Adult books, check out this series for yourself. But make sure to read the books in order.

Caryl McAdoo has a way of drawing her readers into the story. The Days of Dread trilogy is written for teens and is set in the end times. She juxtaposes events in Revelation with fictional happenings in Texas. The Kidron Valley has everything teens look for in a book – adventure with some romance and some fighting thrown in. She successfully continues the story right where The Sixth Trumpet left off.

I have long enjoyed Caryl McAdoo’s historical stories, so it has been fun to read this very different, futuristic series by her! I have enjoyed the characters and the setting. The future has become chaotic and those looking for a safe haven are fleeing to Red River. I thought that it was interesting to see how this new settlement dealt with its citizens and the element of faith throughout the story. This is a wonderful series to pick up and enjoy!

DAYS OF DREAD TRILOGY: THE KIDRON VALLEY is full of action, suspense, and adventure. As always, Caryl McAdoo has written another page-turner with a Christian focus. I enjoyed the story. It moved at a good pace, and I was pleased with the way the author was able to sprinkle Christian references seamlessly throughout the book. There are components of the story that are well-researched, and I was intrigued by the ingenuity of the characters. Their methods for survival were equal parts understandable and outstanding.
