Celebratory fireworks for End of 2022 McAdoos News! Glory! by Caryl McAdoo for The Word and The Music Blog.
A collage of pictures of Grami and her twenty-four grandsugars!mThree of our daughter Cathryn’s children each welcomed a new baby within three weeks of late January and early February. Leona was born to Caryn “Kiki; ” Baby Maeve blessed her twin Anna; and Wesley greeted a son, Jonah! These—God’s best blessings—brought Grami’s grandsugars to a total of twenty-five! We love adding them to our family tree! To God be the glory!

A home nestled in the woods with a curved peagravel path to fromt door, identified as The Peaceable with a scrpiture about living in peaceable places. Our Creator led us to Red River County fourteen years ago in March 2008, and Ron and I have lived peaceably at The Peaceable since July 2013, nine years, but this year, Abba helped us secure a fixed rate mortgage just before the interest rates sky-rocketed. We absolutely love our home! We are so very blessed that our Father gave us this wonderful, amazing place to live! To Him be the glory!

Cover of a children's picture book tiotled Moving to the Peaceable with a wooded, country backgroud and a beautiful silver-laced Wyandotte hen in the foreground. Author Caryl McAdooLast year, our energies went to build my office sanctuary; this year they were all about adding animals and habitats for said animals to become the bona fide Peaceable Farm & Bookery! The story of our new flock of twenty-one may be read in MOVING to the PEACEABLE that just released in December, our sixth new title of the year, a children’s picture book! To God be the glory!

The front of a brown building named the Coop deVille. There's a cadillac emblem above the door and two big, bright happy sunflowers on either side of it.ChThe hens with their coop was a gift from God through our friends Mike and Kristin Carmack who moved to South Texas. Moving the birds and their place to the Peaceable was a huge chore that took us two full months, but again, our amazing Father helped us get it done! A temporary coop until the Coop deVille arrived—when no longer needed—became the Goat Digs. Well, Ron asked me what I wanted for my birthday . . . To God be the glory!

Lillian Jane McAdoo, a six-year-old new author with a beautiful smileCover of a children's picture book THE HAPPY RAINBOW by Lillian Jane McAdoo. There's a bright happy rainbow with smilie and smiling eyes with a forest beneath it.Lillian Jane came to Grami’s for her first-ever sleepover. The plan was to stay two nights but she asked her daddy (Russell) for “one more sleep” since we were having such a grand time! She wrote a story while she was here THE HAPPY RAINBOW and it launched on Amazon in November! A precious children’s picture book for my six-year-old author! I illustrated it for her. To God be the glory!

Picture of a beautiful mostly white with brown and black spots Nubian goatMy new friend Suzanne Borman (retired nurse from Plano-moved-to-Clarksville) took me to the lady she got her goats from in April, and I came home with three! Adeline, Beatrice, and Zacharias! By ourselves, Ron and I stretched over a thousand feet of wire through the woods to make them a half-acre pen to start in. Plans are to double that space for grazing in 2023. They’re Nubians, so should give a gallon a day of sweet milk each (well, the girls! 😊) To God be the glory!

By May we hoped to bless our family and friends and neighbors with a meal! We had our (first annual?) McAdoos’ BBQ, and the food and fellowship proved exceptional! May is and has always been my favorite month—my birthday, emeralds, Mothers Day, spring, warm weather, and the world turning green again! May 2023—definitely a blessed month! To God be the Glory!

A black hen sitting on a nest with a baby chick just out in front of herThe summer passed H*O*T. On June 26th, my brother Norm’s B-day, Peeper was hatched—our very first chick! She’s black, and we call her Peeper—an Australorp, I believe (short for Australian Orpington). In August we ordered fifteen more chicks that arrived in the mail. NEW CHICKS at the PEACEABLE should be releasing soon, God willing and to His glory!

Ron and Caryl McAdoo. She has long loose platinum hair, he has brown hair and a long gray beard. In September, Ron had knee replacement surgery. I wondered how I would ever keep up with what I usually did on top of what he did plus taking the best possible care of him, but God’s joy was my strength! He did so well, he’s looking forward to having his right one done as well. Such an amazing man, my Ron. Oh, how I love being one with him!

A collage of family members, all cousins, mostly older ladiesThough we planned a cousins’ gathering in October, we had to postpone it due to illnesses to November. The semi-annual Horn-Cloyd Cousins Reunion was a huge success! Many cousins were missing and we only had two generations, but we had enough fun and great fellowship for everyone! Our next one will be the last Saturday in April and the last Saturday in October—each year while we can still get together! To God be the glory!

A collage of family pictures from two-year-old to 70-year-old taken at a Thanksgiving gathering and Grandparents' FarmO’Pa and Grami hosted Thanksgiving at The Peaceable and we all were blessed though we were missing so many we love. The food was tasty and the company, most excellent. It’s been so much fun watching great-grandsugars Waylen and Hudson grow this year. What an excellent four-generation “Ebeling McAdoos” photo we got! Ron, Matt, Seth, and Hudson all carry Ron’s grandfather’s middle name Ebeling! To God be the glory!

A young family of four. Bearded daddy, Mama in a hat with little blonde brother on her hip and big sister standing between Daddy and MamaSo, as you can see, it’s been a full and oh-so-blessed year! We started praying at Prayer on the Square on Monday mornings in Clarksville in November. We’re so excited that Seth and Shaey are moving north and east to Birthright, Texas, a little north of Sulphur Springs. This puts them only an hour away, and we’re thrilled at the prospect of seeing them and their babes (Waylen and Hudson) more often! To God be the glory!

For 2023, I pray God’s Kingdom will come and His will is done in your life. That He will go before you with favor and bless the work of your hands. I speak health and healing on you. I ask in the name of His beloved Son that your heart is filled with joy wherein lies your strength, and that His sweet peace that passes understand envelopes you as you trust Him. If we trust Him, there is no fear or worry. We know He is on the throne and in control!  Hallelujah! To God be the glory!

Has God blessed you this year? Are you looking forward to 2023?
